We have represented the interests of Platinum and Gold Artists as well as Producers, Independent Labels, Managers, Authors, Concert Promoters, Publishers, successful small and mid-size businesses of all types, Entrepreneurs and investors, as well as those who have the need for wisdom and protection in their individual matters. Returning to her entrepreneurial roots, she now integrates talent and publishers that span the globe into her new venture and produces brand-specific audio strategies for film, TV and new media. Collaborating with top media clients and music labels, Fuze Artz creates solutions for the content and delivery issues facing today’s entertainment marketers and music publishers. Joining the company in 1997, Rosmann grew the division’s revenue at a rate of 40% annually until 2001. Responding to the challenges of the dot.com bust, SAG strike and 9/11, Rosmann aggressively launched niche product lines generating multiple revenue streams and turned her attention to getting music on the Web. This strategy worked to dominate market share in a crowded field of music publishers vying for this business. Rosmann was responsible for acquiring content, continually expanding the catalog’s reach into foreign markets which included attracting representation in North America of music from top publishers from around the world. Managing the sales and support staff, Rosmann also worked closely with recording and performing artists. This included bringing new and emerging talent to the company roster, and producing and packaging music for motion pictures, two soundtracks, trailers, video games and advertising campaigns, music libraries and original scores for spots and promos. In the last decade, Rosmann immersed herself in new technologies in an effort to protect copyright assets and provide clients with music in an increasingly digital world. This included using audio watermarking, digital royalty streams, meta-data encoding, retooling and launching the company’s interactive Web sites and bringing new catalogs, like the trailer composer scoring series FULLTILT, to market. Rosmann came to Groove Addicts from a career in public relations and marketing, previously owning and operating her own consulting firm. Her background includes extensive work for cable industry clients such as Lifetime Network and the NCTA. Rosmann is a member of ASCAP, BMI, SESAC performing rights organizations; PROMAX, an international organization providing education, recognition and interaction for promotion, marketing and design professionals in electronic media; NATPE, National Association of Television Program Executives; AIMP, Association of Independent Music Publishers; CCC, California Copyright Conference; I3DS, a new international 3D Society formed by John Landau, Jim Chabin and Jeffrey Katzenberg to advance the achievement of professionals working in the arts and technologies of Steroscopic 3D. THANK YOU Special thanks to Central Arizona College, to Rick Moore, David Saline and Dan Bush for their support of NARIP and NARIP events ABOUT THE SPEAKERS Pandy Raye, Co-Founder, Chicks With Picks Pandy Raye has never known a life without music. From an early age, she drew her inspiration from her parents. After playing in bands, studio work and songwriting on the side, she moved from Kansas City to Arizona in 1999 and started meeting people in the music scene here. She feels it is essential to not only build relationships, but o keep and respect them. She believes that success is also about networking and connecting with other people who share your passion. Then find the venues/events that need what you have to offer and go from there. Along the way, never make promises you can’t keep and always strive to be better at what you do. “I have been extremely lucky to have found a business partner, who shares my work ethic and vision,” she says, referring to Rhonda Hitchcock, Co-Founder of Chicks with Picks. Together they have booked almost 900 shows in 3 1/2 years and now have over 300 artists on the CWP roster! The key is having dedication, passion, believing in what you do, having the “right people” in your corner, working hard, and having great talent to back it all up. Together these Pandy and Rhonda are blazing a path for female singer/songwriters and musicians in Arizona. Zach Yoshioka, K&Z Entertainment / Powerline Management With a background in video production Zach Yoshioka broke into the music industry in 2002, producing nationally released DVDs for punk rock AZ band Authority Zero (Lava Records)) and Kottonmouth Kings (Suburban Noize/Capitol). After freelancing for record labels such as Maverick, Warner Bros. and Capitol, Yoshioka soon moved into artist development and management. In 2005 Yoshioka discovered Arizona 6-piece Eyes Set To Kill. Using his relationships with record labels Yoshioka secured a record/imprint deal for the group with Suburban Noize Records and the band went on to sell 40,000 copies of their first CD Reach. In the next two years he secured record deals for The Summer Set (The Militia Group) and Karate High School (Eyeball Records). Managing bands around the country Yoshioka soon partnered with longtime business colleague Kyle Borman to form K & Z Entertainment. From 2007 to present, K&Z has produced over 300 shows in Tempe, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson and has booked bands such as Asking Alexandria, We Came As Romans, Winds Of Plague, Evans Blue, Hawthorne Heights and many more. Today Yoshioka is a full time talent buyer at K&Z and keeps up strong relationships with The Agency Group, Pantheon Agency, APA, Kenmore, Windish, TKO, ICM, CAA and William Morris. With a strong background in artist development K&Z continues to manage acts along with pushing video production to further their marketing and promotion. THANK YOU Special thanks to Jackie Gill, Laurie Black, Debbie Smith and Alexandra Perdue for their help with NARIP events at Mesa Community College. ABOUT THE SPEAKERS Ken Mary Ken Mary has worked as a producer, drummer, singer, and writer on some 30 albums that have sold over 5 million copies worldwide. He currently serves as President for VSR Music Group, an EMI distributed record label, and is a longtime member of the Grammy Nomination Committee. Ken’s talents have enhanced the work of a bizarre and eclectic group of artists that stylistically span everything from emo and hard core to choral music. The (incomplete) list includes internationally known artists such as Alice Cooper, Trik Turner, Megadeth, LaRue, House of Lords, Everybodyduck, The Phunk Junkeez, The Beach Boys, Northern Light Orchestra, Esterlyn, Trik Turner, Chris and Conrad, Bob Carlisle, Debbie Sledge, Ever Stays Red, Jordan Rudess, Gene Simmons, Scott Krippayne, as well as many new, upcoming artists such as Ember, Silverline, Seven Stories Up, Tayla, Kendall Gaveck, Echoes the Fall, Elida Young, Brian Weaver, and hopefully many more to come. Equally at home producing a rock band, recording an authentic flamenco record, or mixing a 40-piece orchestra with a 300-voice choir, Ken thrives on artistic freedom. “…I love to work in different styles and capture the emotion of each song and artist. That’s ultimately what people respond to when they listen to music; they want to feel the emotion that the artist is feeling . . . “ Growing up in Seattle, WA, he began his career drumming in his high school rock band, Fifth Angel. The band signed to Epic Records in 1986, the same year in which Ken joined Alice Cooper and moved to LA. Ken somehow managed to juggle the two commitments, and spent the next three years touring with Alice, doing session work in LA, and promoting Fifth Angel. He later joined House of Lords (working with Kiss mogul Gene Simmons), and became a highly respected session and touring musician. In 1995, after several gold albums, MTV top 10 videos, and numerous world tours, Ken began producing for other artists as well. He currently serves as President for VSR Music Group, an EMI distributed record label, and is a longtime member of the Grammy Nomination Committee. Throughout his career Ken has worked alongside and learned from some of the best music producers and engineers in the world including industry giants Andy Johns (Led Zepplin), Michael Wagener (Ozzy Osbourne, Janet Jackson, Extreme), Howard Benson (P.O.D.), Terry Date (Rage Against the Machine, White Zombie), Bill Kennedy (Nine Inch Nails, Megadeth), Mick Guzowski (Mariah Carey), Mac (Queen), Garth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Chevelle), and Desmond Child (Ricky Martin, Aerosmith). Today he is known mainly for his skill as a multi-talented and critically acclaimed producer, engineer, and musician. Over his career, Ken has racked up an impressive list of hits covering a wide range of artists which includes 8 Billboard Top 40 hits, 11 Top 10 hits in the CBA market, and numerous hits on other charts including Radio and Records, New Music Weekly, AOL Music, most recently the #1 New Music Weekly Top 40 Hit by Ember “The Deep End” which surpassed Daughtry and Lady Gaga in national airplay. Having experience in the Television industry as well, Ken won a Telly Award for his work as musical producer and director for the cable television series “Reality Rules.” He has also recorded for and appeared in three episodes of the long running hit ABC television series “Full House.” Record labels and corporations Ken has worked with include RCA, MCA, Epic, CBS, Benson, JVC, Atlantic, DGC, BMG, Relativity, Organic, Cadence, Invincible, Reunion and REX Fox, Universal, EMI, RCA, Benson, MCA, Trump Enterprises, (yes, as in The Donald), TBN, Zebra, Provident, Reunion, Sony/BMG, Suburban Noise, CBS, BEC, and ABC Family. JASON COOCHWYTEWA Jason Coochwytewa is President of Red Note, Inc. With a diverse background in the advertising and marketing industry of 14+ years, Jason Coochwytewa began his work in entertainment in 2000 as an executive at a large-scale Native American casino in New Mexico. It was here that Jason was introduced to the “business-side” of the music industry: booking, marketing, and creating casino promotions around major national headlining acts. However, his appreciation for music in the art form was discovered as a young boy. Deeply rooted in his Native American culture, his father sang and taught him traditional Hopi songs, emphasizing the importance of listening to the words, rhythm and beat. Time spent with his father laid the foundation to what would eventually become Jason’s passion in life: music. In 2005, Jason launched Red Note, Inc. based in Phoenix, Arizona, and now works full-time planning and managing intimate to large-scale event productions and promotions including festivals and headlining music concerts. Jason has been involved with over 100 shows, working with legendary to “fresh on the scene” musicians and bands. In 2008, Red Note, Inc. produced two major events during Super Bowl XLII; the Arizona Indian Festival with estimated audience of 20,000 and the Native American component of the NFL’s Super Bowl XLII VIP Tailgate Party for 10,000 individuals. Jason serves as a juror on the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and is an advisory board member for the launch of the World Indigenous Music Awards set to take place in 2010 in Canada. He is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, and is an alumnus of Valley Leadership – Class 26. He currently serves as the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) Phoenix Chapter Director, is a Board of Trustee with the Arizona Science Center and a board member with both the Girl Scouts of America Arizona Pine Council and the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona. Jason once again serves as co-chair of the Arizona Diamondbacks Native American Day on July 12, 2009 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Jason Feinberg, President & Founder, On Target Media Group Jason Feinberg is the president and founder of On Target Media Group, a music industry digital marketing agency. He is responsible for business development, formulation and management of online marketing campaigns, and Topspin campaign administration. The company has served clients including Warner Bros. Records, Universal Music Enterprises, EMI, Concord Music Group, Roadrunner Records and others. OTMG has marketed artists such as The Pixies, Har Mar Superstar, Flipper, George Thorogood, Steve Vai, Neil Young, John Coltrane, Ringo Starr and many more. You can follow Jason on Twitter @otmg.
