Over 2,000 Placements PLUS 30 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch Sessions

A NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers

Is your music getting to decision-makers? At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback. BACKGROUND Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members.   Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, thirty (30) NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result with more in the works now.  Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work. Topics at this NARIP Advertising Music Supervisor Pitch Session:
  • Meet top film TV music supervisor Laura Webb who places music in popular episodic television shows and blockbuster filmes
  • Pitch songs directly to Laura for her priority & upcoming projects
  • Laura looks for new and untapped talent to elevate shows she works on
  • Learn how to get placed directly from the buyer, hear what works and what doesn’t
  • Direct access + firsthand info = better results FOR YOU
Small, focused NARIP Sessions enable one-on-one time and immediate direct feedback to music presented by participants.   At NARIP Pitch Sessions, limited to 16 people, you get to know the guest music supervisor, synch agent or producer, and they to get to know you.   Most important, attendees meet these key players, paving the way for placement, representation, collaboration and ongoing opportunities, and giving them an edge in a competitive market.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR PITCH SESSION PREPARATION IS KEY

NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people.  About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 5 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session. Please note that due to time constraints you will only be able to pitch your TOP 3 songs for consideration and immediate feedback (more, if time permits). This process takes the mystery out of why a piece of music does or doesn’t fit. On-the-spot feedback enables registrants to re-work tracks and re-submit, which creates a much higher probability to get them licensed (choose well!).

If you do not have music that matches the current needs of the supervisor, fear not! You can still attend and present the top three songs in your catalog.  Make sure the songs are unique and captivating. This is helpful because a music supervisor’s needs change constantly. To optimize impact of music you pitch at NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session, we highly recommend that you target the briefs. Good luck and see you there!

BEFORE NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:

  • NARIP prepares a one-sheet for each participant including your photo and bio for the guest music supervisor to use and review at the event, and to take with him after the event.  We will request your photo and bio one week prior to the event.  In preparing these materials, we recommend you focus on brief career highlights in your bio and have a professional photo available.
  • Approximately 5 to 7 days prior to NARIP’s Session, you will be sent a project brief describing several cues needed for a current project(s) of our guest speaker.  These often include reference songs or links so that you can hear exactly what he seeks or needs to replace.
  • You will submit your tracks with writer, publisher and other rights holder information that will also be supplied to the music supervisor during and after NARIP’s Session.
  • You will get submission and meta-tagging guidelines, and mentoring as to how best to prepare your music for submission.
DURING NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:
  • You will get to play at least three songs (sometimes more, if time permits) for the guest music supervisor who will provide feedback to you for each one.
  • NARIP moderator asks very specific questions to help participants learn and understand how to modify their tracks to make these more place-able for the guest supervisor’s specific needs at hand.
AFTER NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:
  • NARIP provides guest music supervisor with participant one-sheets and all music from NARIP’s Session, including notes detailing the guest music supervisor’s interest in specific tracks.
  • If requested by guest music supervisor, NARIP conveys additional tracks, remixes, instrumentals etc. to him.
  • If approved by guest music supervisor, NARIP provides his contact details to registrants.

  • Learn how to get placed directly from the buyer, hear what works and what doesn’t.
  • Direct access + firsthand info = better results FOR YOU.
Small, focused NARIP Sessions enable one-on-one time and immediate direct feedback to music presented by participants.   At NARIP Pitch Sessions, limited to 16 people, you get to know the guest music supervisor, synch agent or producer, and they to get to know you.   NOTE: Out session with Jordan Silverberg will be 2 hours only (most NARIP Pitch Sessions are 3 hours), therefore we will limit enrollment to fewer participants.

DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 2,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest. OVER 2,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS
Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed over 2,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions.  Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more. We’re doing it again!

Fat, fit, feisty and fractious, what could be a more fitting place for NARIP’s next cocktail mixer than Skinny’s Lounge, snuggled elegantly in the gloriously refurbished NoHo Arts District? That’s right, none. Or in the famous words of Nigel Tufnel, “None. None more.”

This is a time of immense change in the record business, in case you hadn’t noticed. And with more and more people striking out on their own, not to mention ongoing lay-offs at many record labels both large and small, there is a greater need than ever for professionals in our business to come together, meet, mingle and network. And drink (in moderation, of course).

NARIP at your service, thank you. What on earth would you be doing on a Monday night anyway?!

Admission at NARIP’s cocktail mixer is FREE, please RSVP your attendance so we can plan complimentary appetizers and stock up on vodka.

Fat, fit, feisty and fractious, what could be a more fitting place for NARIP’s next cocktail mixer than the Pig & Whistle, deep in the center of Hollywood action? That’s right, none. Or in the famous words of Nigel Tufnel, “None. None more.”

Admission at NARIP’s cocktail mixer is FREE, please RSVP your attendance so we can plan properly.

Here is a tiny ode to sum up what you will encounter. NARIP will award one complimentary cocktail to any person who submits a superior ode which shouldn’t be difficult as our iambic pentameter ain’t what it used to be. The more literary among you may note a certain bold stylistic mix of meters.

One does what one can.

Small Ode To NARIP

Come out, come out wherever you are
Go Metro to meet NARIP, go green-ly sans car *

Next week at The Pig come mix, schmingle and meet
Take a heavy load off those Ken Cole-encased feet

Find yourself neatly in the thick of it all
Warmly welcomed and feted by the belle of the ball

As introductions are made and deals boldly begun
Exchange biz cards, find like-minds, become delightfully unstrung

Meet good folks, quaff ale as dusk gently lengthens
How did you function pre-NARIP, relationships now strengthened?

Then off you go, waltzing back to the Metro
To ferry you home, dressed in dark Hollywood Retro

Singing merry songs en route with your many new friends
Chanting “NARIP forever!” your loud cheery roars blend

Resisting arrest you arrive safely home
NARIP tucks you in gently, and leaves you alone

Moving forward you enjoy new opportunities, friends gifted
Now go take on the world, both refreshed and uplifted!

Free street parking after 6:00 p.m., public (paid) lots along Hollywood Boulevard. NARIP says GO GREEN and use the METRO (the Pig & Whistle is a stone’s throw from the Hollywood & Highland metro stop).

If you Go Metro, here’s how it works:

Step 1: View the METRO MAP.
Get a general view of where the closest rail is to you and what connection(s) you will need to get to UHollywood & Highland. The map contains each station’s physical address and P = Parking if available. Option: Drive to your nearest rail station and park to take the metro rail if your station has a park-and-ride option. If there isn’t parking available, then have a friend drop you off, or use the metro trip planner (scroll down) for more options such as bus options that will take you to the metro.
Map Link

Step 2: Use the Metro TRIP PLANNER.
This will give you a step-by-step guide to get from one address to the final destination. Metro station addresses can be obtained from the interactive rail map. Just click on the name of the station for the physical address. This trip planner uses the bus system too, so if you only want to ride the rail, then only put the rail station address in.
Trip Planner Link

Step 3: Confirm your TIME TABLE.
If you like to figure things out on your own….just use the timetables. The rail timetables are 801-901.

Step 4: COST of Metro.
Research fares or any other questions you may have.

ABOUT OUR EXCELLENT BRUNCH HOST, JEFFREY DAVID

I’m producer and songwriter, and ALWAYS looking for great bands and solo artists.

I grew up a punk rock drummer who also played classical piano. I lived in Coronado, CA. It was a great place to live and enjoy life. I would surf for hours with friends ditching school, eating nachos and Captain Crunch Berries. Music had a huge hold on me. I remember practicing up to 3 hours a day as a child, loving Mozart, Chopin and Bach but, I also loved The Clash, U2, The Specials, English Beat and The Police.

I eloped at 20 years old and we started to have kids right away. We love kids and wanted a big family, the music was constant and so were these little creative kids that we just adored. I’ve developed them the past few years and they are a very serious rock/pop band. Huge things are in store for this band. They are called Ready Set Go!. Amazing writers, musicians and overall human beings who would do anything for ya!

I played drums in a signed band called Mayfair Laundry and toured all over the country. We did shows with bands like Sixpence, Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day and tons more. I also played keyboard and guitar for lots of different artists at the same time. I was the worship leader at these really big churches for years where I’d have to write a new original song every week, where thousands of people would be there to take art in, where we could take any musical chance we could ever dream up. A few years ago I quit all that to produce records full time and life is GREAT!

Some of the people I work in the present and past include Savvy & Mandy (the Firm/EMI), Vincent Tomas of US5, Axiz (Jive), Jordyn Taylor, Rachael Lampa, Ashleigh Haney (Rihanna), The English Beat’s Dave Wakeling, Nicole Witt (Curb), Jeannie Lurie (Disney), Amy Powers, Paul Wright (Ocean Ave Records), Dan Miller (O Town, The Clutch), Christian Slydoggie (Darkchild), Scott Krippayne, Quincy Coleman, Rootdown (Ocean Ave), Hamilton High School Gospel Choir, Mayfair Laundry (Pamplin), Phil Keaggy, Marc Tanner (Chime Ent.), The Excitals, Rie Sinclair (ABC), Ulrika (The Clutch), Kenny Aronoff, Jim Watts, Chesney Hawkes, Andrea Remanda, Keely Hawkes, Lindsey Varnisky, Kat Dansen, Randi Soyland, Shari Short, Tom Leonard (kobalt), Cindy Morgan, Lindoff and more!

I’ve had over 60 songs placed in TV and have created a new record label Cranberry Records to first focus on publishing, where I’ll sign 3 new songwriters and eventually artists. I work in pop, rock and hip hop and am forging deep relationships with both artists and executives in Los Angeles, Nashville and New York to create a powerhouse of hits for artists and TV. With great songs, honest relationships, kindness and an attitude where we try to out “give” each other, WE CAN WIN! I have to warn you, I’m a huge dreamer! I love long-shots, I love when someone says “you can’t do that!”

The team I use to make records are all amazing A-list musicians and Grammy engineers. There’s no skimping, there’s only going 100% to make this the best it can be! I co-write with some of my favorite people in the world! I’m really comfortable in all genres and great up on so many different kinds of records from The English Beat, Tom Jones, The Beatles, U2, Tears For Fears to Chopin.

Harness the Power of an Independent Commissioned Sales and Marketing Agent to Exploit and Monetize Your Music!

A NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Synch Agents

This Event is SOLD OUT

Is your music getting to decision-makers –  people who can say YES and write a check?

The Synch Agents* featured in NARIP Pitch Sessions are among the top sales and marketing executives who actively place music owned by songwriters, composers and independent music publishers.

Many music buyers – directors, producers and music supervisors – name these Synch Agents as among their go-to music providers.  These Agents, who NARIP has researched and interviewed,  have placed thousands of songs in blockbuster films, hit television shows, trailers, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and video games.

At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet and pitch Synch Agents for current placement opportunities and representation, and get immediate feedback.

Come meet these career-makers.

BACKGROUND

Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 1,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and trailers for NARIP members.

NARIP members have also secured publishing deals and formed creative collaborations too numerous to mention as a direct result of these NARIP’s Sessions.

Topics

  • Trends in synch licensing and agent deals
  • Exclusive, non-exclusive, single-song deals
  • Budgets and fee ranges
  • Royalties, copyright ownership, rights retention
  • Fees and deal points between synch agents and their clients
  • Which synch agents seek a transfer of copyright(s) for their services, and under what circumstances
  • Song re-titling

Small, focused NARIP Sessions enable one-on-one time and immediate direct feedback to music presented by participants.  At hundreds of NARIP Sessions, we asked every guest music supervisor how to better market music to them.  Their one consistent piece of advice?  Get representation!

At NARIP Synch Agent Pitch Sessions, limited to 16 people, you get to know the synch agents and they to get to know you.

Most important, attendees meet these key players, paving the way for possible representation and ongoing opportunities, and giving them an edge in a competitive market.

Synch Agent: A synchronization or “synch” agent represents music copyrights – either the composition, the sound recordings, or both.  They pitch music to buyers and their representatives, including to music supervisors.  Synch agents are typically compensated on a commission basis and do not own or control the copyrights they represent.  While synch agents usually focus on entertainment and media exploitations, traditional songplugger services also include placement of represented songs with recording artists.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A NARIP SYNCH AGENT PITCH SESSION:

PREPARATION IS KEY

As with NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions, NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people.  About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 7 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Session.

If you do not have music that matches the current needs of the guest, fear not! You can still attend and present the top three songs in your catalog.  Make sure the songs are unique and captivating. This is helpful because a music supervisor’s needs change constantly. To optimize impact of music you pitch at NARIP’s Synch Agent Session, we highly recommend that you target the briefs.

In addition to pitching for current placement opportunities, NARIP’s guest Synch Agents will consider music pitched for representation.

Good luck and see you there!

BEFORE NARIP’S SYNCH AGENT PITCH SESSION:

  • NARIP prepares a one-sheet for each participant including your photo and bio for the guest to use and review at the event, and to take with him after the event.

DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 1,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest. OVER 1,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS
Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed over 1,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions.  Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more. Placements secured and professional relationships formed through NARIPs music supervisor sessions have earned praise and many placements! See TESTIMONIALS and PLACEMENTS sections below.

PARKING & DIRECTIONS:

Well, you can be boring and anti-green and drive, OR you can ride the METRO with your NARIP friends! If you drive, the restaurant validates 1 hour with lunch (free), thereafter cost is $1.20 per hour. Metered street parking also available. If you Go Metro, here’s how it works:

Step 1: View the METRO MAP.
Get a general view of where the closest rail is to you and what connection(s) you will need to get to Union Station’s Gold Line to meet us.

Step 3: Confirm your TIME TABLE.
If you like to figure things out on your own….just use the timetables. The rail timetables are 801-901. *Be sure you scroll to the Saturday / Sunday / Holiday time table (first page starts with Mon-Fri), and then check whether it is North or Southbound, refer to the map if you need to!
