WHAT TO EXPECT AT A NARIP SYNCH AGENT PITCH SESSION:
NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people. About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant may submit up to five (5) songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session. Please note that due to time constraints you will only be able to pitch your TOP 3 songs for consideration and immediate feedback (more, if time permits). This process takes the mystery out of why a piece of music does or doesn’t fit. On-the-spot feedback enables registrants to re-work tracks and re-submit, which creates a much higher probability to get them licensed (choose well!). If you do not have music that matches the current needs of the supervisor, fear not! You can still attend and present the top three songs in your catalog. Make sure the songs are unique and captivating. This is helpful because a music supervisor’s needs change constantly. To optimize impact of music you pitch at NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session, we highly recommend that you target the briefs. Good luck and see you there! BEFORE NARIP’S PITCH SESSION:

About Danny Benair, Natural Energy Lab
Before starting Natural Energy Lab, Danny served 8 years (1991-1999) as the Vice President of the Film & Television Department at Polygram Music Publishing. His division continuously exceeded revenue expectations while building a highly respected reputation amongst artists and bands. Danny was responsible for signing the following acts at Polygram Publishing: Tracy Bonham, Redd Kross, Honeydogs, The Tindersticks and Gigolo Aunts. Danny was responsible for The Cardigans writing Lovefool for Baz Luhrman’s Romeo and Juliet, as well as having Adam Schlesinger write the Academy Award nominated “That Thing You Do” for the Tom Hanks’ motion picture. Before his tenure at Polygram, Benair was a member of the Los Angeles based band The Three O’Clock. Danny previously played in the Weirdo’s and The Quick, to name a few.
Natural Energy Lab is a Los Angeles based music marketing company, which specializes in film, television & commercial placement. Run by former music publishing exec Danny Benair, Natural Energy Lab offers the personal attention that is rarely found in an increasingly taxed business. When Natural Energy Lab was formed the idea to represent labels and artists was new. Barely anyone understood the concept. Today it seems like anyone and everyone is taking a stab at it. Which means even more than ever a trusted company like Natural Energy Lab that has been road tested and not out to rip off the artist has a very vital place in the entertainment business. Traditionally, artists and songwriters have created successful careers via music publishing, as publishers place their material in TV, films and commercials. While artists may never recoup the promotional costs spent on marketing their music, their publishing becomes a lucrative alternative. However, recent history is one of acquisitions and downsizing of labels and publishing companies into corporate behemoths. While this results in the creation of voluminous catalogs, artists and songwriters no longer receive the type of attention to which they’ve grown accustomed. This current climate has allowed Benair to create an independent music marketing company, operating outside the corporate vacuum. The team at Natural Energy Lab gives personal attention to their entire roster, representing music masters and song copyrights for placement in feature films, television shows, video games, movie trailers, advertising campaigns and television commercials. In eleven years, Natural Energy Lab has procured music placements resulting in millions of dollars in licenses for their clients. NEL represents hundreds of bands and artists and the referrals continue to amass. Natural Energy Lab has been hired by agencies such as TBWA/Chiat/Day to help them find the right fit for corporate clients, including Apple Computer and XM Satellite Radio among others. In the last few months alone, NEL has landed several national television commercials and feature films:
Dr. Pepper: The 88 “Do You Believe In Love”
Papa John’s Pizza: Big Papa and The TCB “Go Big Papa”
Radio Shack commercial with Lance Armstrong: Radio Moscow “Broke Down”
FindaProperty commercial: The 88 “Coming Home”
The Simpsons: Emerson Lake and Palmer “Lucky Man”
Nissan Car Commercial: Embrace “Celebrate”
Grey’s Anatomy: Total Babe “Shape Up”
Grey’s Anatomy: Patrick Park “How The Heart Grows Wicked”
Private Practice: Titiyo “X”

Each participant must submit 5 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session.

About Lana Bui, Freelance Trailer Music Supervisor Lana Bui is a proud first-generation Vietnamese American, born and raised in Winter Park, FL. Her love of music began at age 4 years when she performed on stage with her father singing Vietnamese folk songs. At 7 years, she took up the violin in school, taking private lessons, and participating in youth and school orchestras. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Music Business, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to become a music supervisor. Through hard work, perseverance, and a bit of cosmic luck, Lana landed her first supervision gig at Aspect, a trailer house in North Hollywood. She then moved to Wild Card Creative Group where she has placed music for projects such as Dune, Ad Astra, Suicide Squad, Extraction, and Little Fires Everywhere. When Lana isn’t working, she enjoys time spent outside with her pit bull Rufio (below) and catching up over iced coffee with friends.

So how do you get the recipient to open your email and respond?

Instead, show people that you appreciate their time by sending clear, well-researched, short emails and then your response rate will go up.
NARIP President Tess Taylor shares how to get through to music buyers and other busy people. With a 95%+ response rate to her inquiries and outreach, she has amassed a quiver of arrows you’ll want to learn and then use yourself, including:

Is your music getting to decision-makers?
At NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet music buyers including A&R executives, music supervisors, synch agents and music producers and pitch for current placement opportunities, representation, and projects, and get immediate feedback.
BACKGROUND
Since 2011, NARIP Music Supervisor Pitch Sessions have secured over 2,000 placements in blockbuster films, hit television series, global promotion and advertising campaigns, and major studio trailers for NARIP members. Since inception of NARIP’s Synch Agent Pitch Sessions in 2018, thirty (30) NARIP members have signed representation or music publishing deals as a direct result with more in the works now. Other outcomes include collaborations, co-writing, producing and commissioned work.
Topics at this NARIP Advertising Music Supervisor Pitch Session:
NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions are limited to an enrollment of just 16 people. About one week prior to NARIP’s Session, all registrants will get a brief of the guest supervisor’s then-CURRENT music needs. Each registrant will have a chance to pitch in response to the music briefs provided and get immediate feedback to music pitched. Each participant must submit 5 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session.
DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG
NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 2,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest.

Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed over 2,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions. Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more.

Over 2,000 Placements PLUS 30 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch SessionsA NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers
DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG

Over 2,000 Placements PLUS 30 Signings Result From NARIP Pitch SessionsA NARIP Series: Intimate Pitch Meetings with Top Music Buyers including Music Supervisors, A&R Executives, Synch Agents & Music Producers
Each participant must submit 7 songs (MP3s only please) 36 hours prior to NARIP’s Music Supervisor Session.
DON’T GET LOST IN THE CROWD: SMALL IS THE NEW BIG
NARIP Sessions are deliberately kept small and intimate, which is just one reason they work so well and why participants have enjoyed over 2,000 placements to date. Limited enrollment of 16 people per session guarantees that registrants meet and get face-time with our guest.
OVER 2,000 PLACEMENTS FROM NARIP MUSIC SUPERVISOR SESSIONS
Our small format works! NARIP Session participants have placed over 2,000 tracks as a direct result of NARIP Music Supervisor Sessions. Other benefits include new publishing deals for NARIP members, creative collaborations and co-writes, strategic introductions to other music supervisors and placement experts, new representation for composers and much more.

About Todd Porter, Music Supervisor, Hated Industries.
Todd Porter has been working in advertising for the past 25 years. A dedicated fan of the live music experience, he sees over 500 bands a year, (at least until the Pandemic, which has really messed up that plan.). He’s placed many of his favorite artists in commercials and also produced a few campaigns for the Super Bowl. He’s partnered with his clients to create music content, working to place music in the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl campaigns and booking artists for the Doritos stages at SXSW and E3. His music supervision work has resulted in a higher profile for brands and elevated brand recognition among music-minded consumers, not to mention sales in the millions for artists and labels. He’s launched acts into the charts and helped them become commercially successful.
